On leaving school Catherine joined the WRNS as a radio/radar mechanic in the Fleet Air Arm. After the WRNS she worked as a management services officer with local government, then transferred to the electoral section compiling the Register of Electors and organising elections. After retirement Catherine, who is a cat lover, bought and ran a boarding and rescue cattery.
To help put something back into society, she decided on voluntary work and helped with the D.I.G. (the Disablement Group) which was working to get an income for all disabled people. Through D.I.G. she was chosen, and served on the Community Health Council, when it was first formed in 1975. She formed a Volunteer Bureau, which within 2 years was rated as one of the best in the country. In addition, it may come as no surprise to members that know her, that she worked for various animal charities, and currently for the local independent rescue cattery.
Robert Kilroy-Silk inspired her to join Veritas because she believed, and she still believes that it is the only Party that will work to get the withdrawal of the UK from the EU and return it again to be an independent, sovereign country.
She helped to draft the Constitution which was voted for by the members in autumn 2005. As of January 2008, Catherine is now responsible for the running of the party membership. In October 2006, she was re-elected to the NEC and will serve until October 2008.
